PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1991-92

At Karachi, November 20

15-Apr-1993
At Karachi, November 20. West Indies won by 24 runs. Toss: West Indies. When West Indies chose to bat, Haynes and the 21-year-old débutant from Barbados, Wallace, opened with 55 in 13 overs. After Richardson went cheaply, Haynes added another 68 in 13 overs with Lara, whose first international fifty took 59 balls. Pakistan having failed to bowl the stipulated 40 overs by lunch, the game was curtailed to 34 a side, setting an asking rate of just over five an over. Opener Aamir Sohail was soon run out, as was Salim Malik. By the 27th over half the side had gone for 82. Only Javed Miandad and wicket-keeper Moin Khan offered any resistance and Pakistan were bowled out for 146 with one ball remaining. Disappointed by imminent defeat, some of the 50,000-strong crowd invaded the pitch, and Wallace went off with a bruised shoulder after being hit by a missile at long leg.
Man of the Match: B. C. Lara.
