A prolific 235-run opening stand between V Pramod and Shyam Ponnappa
took Karnataka to a commanding 366/3 at the end of the second day of
their KSCA Under-25 Trophy game at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in
Bangalore today. The match was resuming after a one day break due to a
bandh yesterday in Karnataka.
Resuming at 61 without loss in reply to Goa's first innings score of
158, the partnership between the two openers was finally broken by
Amit Jadhav in the 57th over of the innings. He took a return catch to
dismiss Pramod for 108 (166 balls, 15 fours). Jadhav then appeared
again on the scoresheet by taking another catch, this time off the
bowling of Abhijit Talekar, to send back Ponnappa for 132 (199 balls,
14 fours, 2 sixes).
Six runs later, with the score at 259, Abhijit removed M Vinod for a
single, courtesy another catch by the ubiquitous Jadhav. But that was
the last success Goa saw as AR Mahesh (54, 134 balls, 6 fours) and S
Sudhindra (57, 77 balls, 3 fours) consolidated Karnataka's position
with an undefeated fourth wicket stand of 107.
