Ramnaresh Sarwan and Dwayne Bravo, key players in the West Indies' line-up, are yet to be passed fit for tomorrow's one-day international against New Zealand in Wellington.
Bravo, 22, suffered a side strain and left the field during yesterday's Twenty20 international at Eden Park in Auckland after bowling 16 balls, while Sarwan did not play due to a bout of 'flu. Told to rest at the team's hotel, it is still unclear if Sarwan will recover in time for Saturday's match.
About Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, the captain, said he was was awaiting medical reports. "It's a side injury but I don't know much about it yet," he told the New Zealand Herald.
The West Indies put in a competitive effort in their Twenty20 international debut, losing in a bowl-out after the scores were tied at the end of the allocated overs. "It's a good experience, fast-paced game. You have to have your thinking cap on early and you have to be ready at all times," Chanderpaul said. "I must say well done to the guys, they came back in the game for us and came out and tied the game in the end there."
Tomorrow's one-day match is the first of five to be contested between West Indies and New Zealand before a three-Test series.
