Batsman Qasim Sheikh has been added to Scotland's ODI squad for the back-to-back matches this weekend against Ireland in Aberdeen. The selectors were impressed with Sheikh following his century against Ireland in the Intercontinental Cup match, which was crucial in giving his team a slender first-innings lead.
Fast bowler Dewald Nel, who broke his finger during the ICC World Twenty20 in June, has been given the all-clear by the doctors to play.
"Qasim fully deserves his call-up after his outstanding knock last week, and Dewald returning is a major boost after his lengthy layoff," Peter Steindl, Scotland's head coach, said. "We hope to build on the many positives we have taken out of the recent Intercontinental Cup game as we continue to develop our side."
Scotland play a one-off ODI against Australia on August 28 in Edinburgh.
Squad: Gavin Hamilton (capt), Fraser Watts, Ryan Watson, Qasim Sheikh, Navdeep Poonia, Neil McCallum, Richie Berrington, Marc Petrie, Majid Haq, Gordon Drummond, Ross Lyons, Gordon Goudie, Dewald Nel.
