Scottish Cricket: Double header for Ayr and Aberdeenshire

Aberdeenshire and Ayr face round trips of 400 miles when they face
each other twice this weekend - first in the Premiership at New
Cambusdoon tomorrow and then in the quarter final of the Scottish Cup
at Mannofield on Sunday.
Both teams have built their success to date upon solid batting. Bruce
Patterson and Alan Simpson form a formidable opening pair for Ayr but
Jason Arnberger and Neil MacRae are the real form players.
The hard-hitting Arnberger is enjoying his first season at Mannofield,
having carried on where he left off for West of Scotland two years
ago, with 492 Premiership runs in just six innings, including two
centuries. But his captain, MacRae, has also been outstanding. He has
scored one century and has failed to reach the half century mark only
once so far.
Graeme Rummans, the Ayr professional, is also beginning to blossom in
his first year in Scotland, his left-arm spin having added a vital new
dimension to the Ayr bowling.
West of Scotland must start picking up points soon to give their title
chances any substance, but that could be a tricky prospect at Glenpark
if Dene Hills maintains his form.
Carlton, equally, will find Heriot's a tough proposition at
Goldenacre, especially if Asim Butt and Jim Love are available.
