At Durban, November 22, 2006 (day/night). South Africa won by 157 runs. Toss: South Africa.
One-day international debut: Wasim Jaffer.
A wretchedly one-sided encounter was dominated by Kallis, who followed an unfussy century
- his 14th in one-day internationals but his first against India - with three for three off 25 balls
as India collapsed feebly. Kallis came to the crease in the second over and stayed to the end. On
a pitch offering the seamers plenty of encouragement, he cut out the risks, and applied himself
for 160 balls. Dravid and Tendulkar resisted well, but when they fell in the space of three balls,
the other batsmen failed to counter the bounce and movement. Nel succeeded where the Indian
seamers had failed, taking four for 13 in eight overs, but Kallis's late intervention gave him one
of the more emphatic match awards.
Man of the Match: J. H. Kallis.
