Former Kingswood cricket captain dies in action
FORMER KINGSWOOD College cricket captain Sripali Gunatillake
died in action at Pulliyankulam recently, fighting the
separatist war in the North.
Sripali Gunatillake was a fine batsman and scored heavily for
his school which he represented from the under-13 team onwards
and he ended his school career by captaining the senior cricket
team. he was also a good spinner.
Kandy mourned the loss of this young sportsman who was just 25
when he laid his life in the defence of his country.
Colombo South win by 8 wkts
AN UNBROKEN stand of 146 for the third wicket between Dilshan
Gunawardena 70 n.o. (13 fours) and Nimesh Perera 69 n.o. (11
fours, 1 six) helped Colombo South to score an easy eight wicket
win over Colombo North in their all-island inter-district under
15 cricket tournament conducted by the Kandy District CA and
played at the Police grounds, Kandy yesterday.
Earlier Colombo North who were 49 for 6 at one stage recovered
through a good knock of 82 with 9 fours and 3 sixes by Veluwana
MV cricketer Prasad Sanjeewa to total 163.
Colombo North 163 all out in 42.3 overs (A. Dharmapriya 11, N.
Wickremasinghe 20, P. Sanjeewa 82, R. Senadeera 2 for 16, N.
Perera 2 for 18, P. Caldera 2 for 16, D. Silva 2 for 24).
Colombo South 167 for 2 in 29.3 overs (Dilshan Gunawardena 70
not out, Nimesh Perera 69 not out).

LANKAN CRICKET Club scored a first innings win over Kandy
Cricket Club in their Cricket Board's under-24 cricket
tournament match played at the Asgiriya Stadium recently.
Kandy CC 256 all out in 66 overs (R. de Raffayal 21, M. Liyanage
15, S. Weerasiri 21, S. Ruhunuhewa 60, I. Beddegama 10, M. Risvi
17, K. Weeraratne 35 not out, N. Alahakoon 20, R. Chandimal 3
for 52, S. Perera 3 for 77) and 35 for 3 in 15 overs (R. de
Raffayal 11, A. de Mel 2 for 10).
Lankan CC 287 all out in 110.2 overs (N. Kularatne 37, N.
