The West Indies selectors have made a short-list of 24 players who will attend a training camp in Barbados to prepare for the three-Test tour to Australia in November. According to a West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) release, 29 of the 30 players requested to make themselves available for the tour signed their letters of invitation within Monday's deadline.
Jerome Taylor was not required to accept having been given more time to complete rehabilitative work on his bowling action, which is being altered to reduce the risk of injury. Dwight Washington and Xavier Marshall have been left out from the original 30. The players will assemble tomorrow for the camp, which will consist of two days of training sessions followed by a four-day game from the September 27-30.
Brian Lara, Chris Gayle and Jermaine Lawson were not included in the 24. Lara has been selected in both the one-day and Test squads for the Super Series between the World XI and Australia and Gayle has been called up for the one-day squad. Lawson is recovering from minor surgery on his ankle and is out of action for two more weeks.
