USA continued to ring the surprises on the second day of the Americas U19 Championships. A day after defeating hosts Canada, they crushed co-favourites Bermuda by eight wickets. Ten days ago it was not certain if these talented youngsters would be given permission to take part, but now, barring some unexpected disasters, thye are odds-on to qualify for the 2006 U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka.
Bermuda won the toss and elected to bat on a placid stripe but soon were in trouble as wickets fell at a steady pace. When Abhemanyu Rajp was given the ball with 23 overs already bowled things turned from bad to worse as he ripped through the middle and lower order to finish with 5 for 7 in just 6.2 overs.
USA lost Ravi Timbawala at 17 to give the Bermudans some hope, but Sumon and Dodson put on a solid 50 run partnership for the second wicket and the game was all but over. Abhemanyu Rajp with outstanding bowling figures of 6.2-2-7-5 was named Man of the Match.

Cayman Islands, who had the bye on day one, scored an impressive win over struggling Argentina. Their total of 286 for 6 in 50 overs was the highest team score so far in the tournament. The first five batsmen all got into double figures with opener Ricardo Roach leading the way with an impressive half ton.
In their reply Argentina looked as if they would go down with barely a whimper, but a fine 58 run third-wicket partnership between Birnie and Bruno moved Argentina past three figures, consuming 33.2 overs. For Pedro Bruno it was the second day he has top scored for Argentina scoring 30 both days.
