Michael Vaughan has made his first tentative steps towards a return, with an indoor net session at Trent Bridge, as the opening day of Yorkshire's Championship match against Nottinghamshire was washed out.
Vaughan won't make the XI for this match, but has been given permission, by Duncan Fletcher, to play whenever he recovers from his knee injury.
"It's the first net and it was nice to pick up a bat again," Vaughan told the Press Association after he had also jogged around the outfield. "It's early days and I'm just getting used to jogging again - I'm just hoping for a bit of luck now."
Meanwhile, Simon Jones will have to wait at least another day to make his comeback after the first day of Glamorgan's match against Cardiff UCCE at Sophia Gardens was also washed out.
This was scheduled to be Jones's first run out since the he played in the warm-up match against India A at the Brabourne Stadium. However, play was abandoned mid-way through the afternoon as heavy showers hit Cardiff.
