Dennis Lillee has led the tributes for Bernie Prindiville, a former WACA president who had a stand in Perth named in his honour, after he died on Saturday night. Lillee said Prindiville was a man who always had the true interests of the game at heart.
Prindiville was the WACA's president from 1980 to 1990 and a spokesman said he was full of fundraising initiatives for the first Test at Perth in December 1970. "He was a tireless worker for the sport in Western Australia and without his efforts the people wouldn't be able to enjoy the world-class cricket and facilities at the WACA," Lillee said. He was central to the ground's redevelopment in 1985, which included the installation of lights, and the Prindiville Stand sits at the northern end of the ground.
