As expected, Philo Wallace has been selected to lead Barbados in next
year's Busta Cup regional four-day championship.
Wallace's appointment was confirmed at Tuesday's retreat of the board of
management of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) at the University of
the West Indies.
Wallace did not lead Barbados in this year's competition, since he was on
the West Indies tour to South Africa, but returned to the helm during the
Red Stripe Bowl One-Day competition, which ended this month. Tony Howard
was retained as manager.
Senior selector Ezra Moseley was selected to be chairman of the Under-19
selection committee. Moseley, a former West Indies fast bowler, continues
his association with the youth having been the manager of the national
Under-15 team which went to Guyana earlier this year.
The other members are Jeff Broomes, a former Under-19 manager; George
Linton and Hendy Springer, two former national slow bowlers, and Richard
Straker, the coach who led the Under-19s to the regional four-day
championship in August.
The board highlighted a number of areas which are in urgent need of
attention:
- Review and implementation where applicable of the's Strategic Business Plans as detailed in the Shorey Report.
