Warren Deutrom, the former marketing manager of the ECB, was today appointed chief executive of Irish cricket. Deutrom is currently working as the events managed of the ICC and was the director of last year's ICC Trophy in Ireland.
He first worked with Irish cricket in staging the sell out World Cup game between the West Indies and Bangladesh at Clontarf in 1999.
"Warren brings wealth of experience of cricket administration, and we look forward to [him] progressing our strategic plan," Dr. Murray Power, the Iris Cricket Union (ICU) chairman said. "This is a crucial period in Irish cricket, with our forthcoming World Cup and League participation, and we are confident that he is the ideal candidate to lead us to even greater success."
"Having worked closely with the ICU on two successful projects in recent years, I am delighted to be returning to Ireland in this capacity," Deutrom added. "Ireland is the 13th ranked nation in what is the world's second most popular sport, so it's an exciting time for the cricket here. I look forward enormously to the challenge of helping the Irish game to move forward at all levels."
