West Indies v India
At Port-of-Spain, June 2
15-Apr-2003
At Port-of-Spain, June 2. India won by 56 runs (D/L method). Toss: India.
India built a challenging total, thanks to a succession of steady partnerships involving Ganguly
and Tendulkar. Both looked well set until Dillon dismissed them on his way to five wickets.
Tendulkar ignored his injured shoulder to score 65 in 70 balls, with a six and three fours. Rain
interrupted West Indies' reply, already one over short because of their slow over-rate; on resumption,
the incompatibility of the available computer and the Duckworth/Lewis disk meant a delay in
announcing the revised target. Both openers were out before West Indies heard they needed 248
from 44 overs. But they were effectively beaten by the 24th, having lost the top half of their
batting for 88. Although Chanderpaul and Jacobs kept another large crowd interested, adding 71
in 55 balls, India won the series in comfort.
