Rain continues to play havoc with this year's Championships, but at least Britain's great hope Tim Henman is safely through to the next round. However, that is all you can say about the way the number five seed performed in his opening game, after he made heavy weather of beating his Spaniard opponent.

He is a 15/2 shot with us to exit the competition against qualifier Ivo Heuberger in the next round, but if you fancy him to bounce back and go all the way to the final you will be rewarded with odds of 9/4. Perhaps on the back of this lifeless display by Henman, there has been considerable support for Andy Roddick, Henman's main danger in the bottom half of the draw, at 11/4.

Ladies singles
Defending champion Serena Williams looked on paper to have a tricky match against her first round opponent Chinese youngster Jie Zheng, who had reached the French Open fourth round, but in the end only dropped four games on her way to an impressive victory.

It should be plain sailing through to the quarter-finals for the top seed now. Unseeded Daniela Hantuchova became the first player to reach the third round after walking over against her scheduled second round opponent. Hantuchova, a quarter finalist two years ago, looks to be carrying forward her good form from Eastbourne last week, and could pose the main threat to the dominance of the William's sisters.
