The new Zimbabwe selection panel of Kenyon Zeal, Vumindaba Moyo, Steyn Kombayi and Jackie Du Preez gets its first assignment when it meets in on Friday in Harare to pick the final squad to tour Bangladesh.
A provisional squad of 18 players was named last Friday and went on a team building camp in Chimanimani, a mountainous area in Zimbabwe's Eastern Highlands on Monday. Leg spinner Tafadzwa Kamungozi, a surprise choice for the South African tour and the International Cricket Council Champions Trophy failed to make it into the provisional squad.
Gangling pace bowler Christopher Mpofu, left handed all-rounders Keith Dabengwa and Sean Williams who missed out on the ICC Champions Trophy made it into the provisional squad.
Also in the squad is Mluleki Nkala who is back after being sidelined by a nagging ankle injury, leg spinners Graeme Cremer and Ryan Higgins.
The squad returned to Harare on Thursday, played a Twenty20 match and also plays a one-day match on Friday before the selectors announce the final squad of 15 to make the trip to Bangladesh.
Medium pace bowler Tawanda Mupariwa is likely to miss out on the trip because of injury. Mupariwa picked up the knee injury before the ICC Champions Trophy but managed to make it to India.
Left handed opener Terrence Duffin had already been ruled out of the tour after undergoing surgery on Monday to repair torn ligaments on his left hand. Gregory Strydom, another member of Kevin Curran's squad for the ICC Champions Trophy has made himself unavailable for the tour for personal reasons.
