Zimbabwe v New Zealand, 2000-01

At Bulawayo, September 30

15-Apr-2002
At Bulawayo, September 30. Zimbabwe won by 21 runs. Toss: New Zealand. International debuts: T. J. Friend, D. A. Marillier.
An excellent pitch, a fast outfield and an off-the-boil display in the field cost New Zealand their unbeaten record on this tour. Injury and illness kept Nevin and Harris out. Even so, at 189 for three in the 39th over, the New Zealanders were on a par with Zimbabwe - 193 for three at the same stage. Then Twose and McMillan, who had put on 77, went in three balls and, with 80 needed off the last ten overs, Parore ran out of support. The 11 wides and seven no-balls conceded by their bowlers told against New Zealand as much as Streak's last-over attack on Astle, which yielded two successive sixes towards his 11-ball 21. Again put in, Zimbabwe had made a flying start, with Campbell and newcomer Doug Marillier rattling up 83 by the 16th over. Campbell struck 96 from 108 balls.
Man of the Match: H. H. Streak.
