Somerset will be hoping to emulate their Cheltenham and Gloucestershire performance against Scotland tomorrow when they take on the Scottish Saltires at Grange Cricket Club in Division Two of the National Cricket League.
Although the Sabres have yet to win in a forty five over game this season, their confidence will have been boosted by Wednesday's emphatic victory, which could also have had the reverse effect upon their opponents.
This match is the Saltires first home match this season, and they will be hoping to build upon their opening victory last weekend, and add the Sabres scalp to that of the Durham Dynmos.
Skipper Mike Burns was in a very positive mood when he spoke to me. "Now that we have got a one day victory under our belts we have turned over a new leaf and although we haven't done so well with the white ball so far this season there is no reason why we can't keep it up, starting on Friday against the Saltires, " he said.
Looking forward to the game the game Wednesday's Man of the Match hero Marcus Trescothick said: "We have got some hard matches ahead of us in the NCL, and it is important that we get on a winning roll."
The Sabres are likely to be fielding the same side that played on yesterday , which means that Simon Francis replaces England paceman Andrew Caddick who missed the C and G game through injury, and all rounder Aaron Laraman remains as twelfth man.
The latest news on the England paceman's injury is that he has travelled back to Taunton from Scotland and has seen a specialist who has examined his injured right foot.
The news about his injury from the Somerset camp is very optimistic and it is hoped that Caddick will be fit to make his home championship debut for the Cidermen when they take on Glamorgan at the County Ground in Taunton on Wednesday.
Currently the Saltires are in third place in the NCL Division Two table whilst the Sabres are near the bottom without any points, a situation that the team and their loyal band of followers who have remained in Scotland to cheer their side on will be hoping to change today.
Meanwhile tickets for the C and G fourth round tie against Surrey at Taunton on May 28th are now available priced £15 for adults and £10 for juniors.
Applications for tickets can be made by telephone (01823 272 946) using a credit card which entails a £1.50 handling charge, or by sending a cheque for the correct amount to the club office, which is open Monday to Friday 9am -1pm and 2- 5pm and on match days from 9am until the close of play.
