India fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who is working his way back from an ankle injury, has been included in Bengal's 31-member probables list for the upcoming domestic season. The injury has sidelined him from all cricket since the ODI World Cup last November.
Shami, however, is nearing full fitness and has begun bowling at full tilt as he targets a comeback during India's international home season, which will kick off with the first Test against Bangladesh from September 19 in Chennai. He is expected to continue training under the National Cricket Academy's watch in Bengaluru.
Earlier this month, PTI had reported that Shami will play either one or both of Bengal's away match against Uttar Pradesh, which begins on October 11, and home fixture against Bihar, which will start on October 18.

Former batter Yere Goud has been named Karnataka head coach ahead of the 2024-25 Indian domestic season, PTI reported on Thursday. He replaces PV Shashikanth, who has joined Tripura as head coach.

Tripura have acquired the services of Mandeep Singh for the upcoming season. Mandeep, who led Punjab to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title in 2023-24, fills the spot vacated by Wriddhiman Saha, who was with the side for the past two seasons as captain and mentor.
Saha has confirmed his return to Bengal along with top-order batter Sudip Chatterjee after a "friendly discussion" with Sourav Ganguly, who doesn't hold an official position in Bengal cricket but is hugely influential. The first sign of things to come was when Saha was picked as one of the marquee players in the Bengal T20 League in June.
Saha, who will turn 40 this year, had left Bengal following a public fallout with a CAB official who accused him of giving "all sorts of excuses" to skip Ranji Trophy matches. Saha, who played the last of his 40 Tests in December 2021, has so far featured in 136 first-class matches and has been in two Ranji Trophy finals for Bengal.

After more than a decade of first-class cricket, Tamil Nadu batting allrounder B Aparajith is set to move to Kerala. Aparajith's move had been on the cards since June, when he was approached informally by the Kerala association, which had been on the lookout for a professional.
The vacancy came up because Shreyas Gopal, the legspinning allrounder, decided to move back to Karnataka after one season with Kerala.
Aparajith wasn't picked in the Ranji Trophy squad last year during Tamil Nadu's run to the Ranji semi-final. At Kerala, he hopes to be able to play across formats. He is also seen as a potential leadership option if Sanju Samson isn't available.
