Shafique powers Lahore Qalandars into Qualifier 2

Karachi Kings knocked out of PSL 2025 after posting a below-par 190

Lahore Qalandars 191 for 4 (Shafique 65, Fakhar 47) beat Karachi Kings 190 for 8 (Warner 75, Rauf 3-35) by six wickets
Fakhar Zaman set it up and Abdullah Shafique knocked it down, as Lahore Qalandars overcame a sloppy outing in the field to overhaul a competitive but eventually below-par target of 191 to knock out Karachi Kings. Qalandars will play Islamabad United in the second Qualifier on Friday.
David Warner's 75 had earlier kept Kings in the game, but on a good batting surface supporting contributions were few and far between. Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers for Qalandars with figures of 3 for 35, but it was the pressure exerted by the spinners through the middle that derailed Kings' innings.

Duckett, Crawley, Pope tons seal England's day of dominance

Total of 498 for 3 the highest-ever made on day one of a Test in England

England 498 for 3 (Pope 169*, Duckett 140, Crawley 124) vs Zimbabwe
Ben Duckett brought up his fifth Test hundred and first at his home ground at exactly a run ball. Zak Crawley got a first Test century since July 2023, 28 innings ago. Between them, they shared in England's highest-opening stand at home since 1960. Ollie Pope added the trimmings with his third hundred in as many Tests at Trent Bridge and eighth against as many different oppositions and England scored the most runs on the first day of a Test in England. If that reads like all-out dominance, it was.
It was also a rude welcome for Zimbabwe's XI, none of whom had played a Test in England before, and many of whom will not remember the last time their team were in the country 22 years ago. The warning signs were there after Zimbabwe lost to a Professional County Club Select XI last week but the true magnitude of the gulf between them and those who play Tests more regularly was laid bare on a bruising first day.

Faheem's all-round show leads Gladiators into final

Usman Qadir impressed with the ball to derail Islamabad's chase

Quetta Gladiators 209 for 6 (Chandimal 48, Ashraf 45, Dwarshuis 2-31, Irshad 2-34) beat Islamabad United 179 (Farhan 52, Salman 44, Tariq 3-32, Amir 2-31, Ashraf 2-33) by 30 runs
Finn Allen, Dinesh Chandimal, Avishka Fernando, and Faheem Ashraf crashed significant scores at a strike rate of better than 150. And when these four batters had propelled Quetta Gladiators to a total of 209 for 6, their bowlers locked the game down through the middle overs, sending Islamabad United eventually to 179 all out.
Gladiators advance to the final, deservedly. Not only have they won this match by a significant margin, they had also easily topped the league ahead of the playoffs, winning seven of their ten matches. United now have to face the winner of Thursday night's eliminator - between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars - in Qualifier 2.

Mumbai Indians 180 for 5 (Suryakumar 73*, Tilak 27, Rickelton 25, Dhir 24*, Mukesh 2-48) beat Delhi Capitals 121 (Rizvi 39, Nigam 20, Santner 3-11, Bumrah 3-12) by 59 runs
Mumbai Indians (MI) secured the last remaining IPL 2025 playoffs spot thanks to a late onslaught from Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir followed by crafty three-fors from Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah. Delhi Capitals, led by Faf du Plessis with regular captain Axar Patel ruled out by flu, were knocked out of contention. Having won each of their first four matches of the season, they have won just two of their next nine.
Put in to bat on a spin-friendly Wankhede Stadium pitch with rain on the cards, MI were in some trouble at 132 for 5 but Suryakumar and Dhir smacked 48 runs off the last two overs to lift them to 180.

United Arab Emirates 166 for 3 (Sharafu 68*, Asif 41*, Shoriful 1-24) beat Bangladesh 162 for 9 (Jaker 41, Tanzid 40, Haider 3-7) by seven wickets
Alishan Sharafu's composed half-century under pressure and Haider Ali's splendid spell of 3 for 7 led UAE to a historic series win against Bangladesh in Sharjah. The hosts chased down 163 with seven wickets in hand to clinch the series 2-1, having already beaten the visitors by two wickets on Monday. It is UAE's second T20I series win against a Full Member team, having beaten Ireland by the same margin in 2021.
Left-arm spinner Haider led the charge to reduce Bangladesh to 84 for 8, before they recovered to reach 162 for 9. Bangladesh, however, couldn't quite use the momentum with the ball, as Sharafu, only 22, struck his eighth half-century in T20Is to anchor the chase. He struck five fours and three sixes in his unbeaten 47-ball 68 as the chase went down to the last over. He added 87 runs for the unbroken fourth-wicket stand with Asif Khan, who damaged Bangladesh with five sixes in his unbeaten 26-ball 41.

Rajasthan Royals 188 for 4 (Suryavanshi 57, Samson 41, Jaiswal 36, Jurel 31*, Ashwin 2-41) beat Chennai Super Kings 187 for 8 (Mhatre 43, Brevis 42, Dube 39, Madhwal 3-29, Yudhvir 3-47) by six wickets
Despite losing eight matches chasing out of nine, Rajasthan Royals (RR) decided to chase one last time and came out victors with 17 balls to spare. Unlike earlier games, though, their bowlers did well against fellow laggards Chennai Super Kings (CSK), leaving them just 188 to get on a good batting pitch. Akash Madhwal reversed the ball to restrict CSK in the end to just 17 runs off the last three overs, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi then aced the chase with a measured 57 off 33 deliveries.
R Ashwin took two wickets in the 14th over to remind observers of RR's poor chasing record, but it proved to be nothing more than a stutter. Dhruv Jurel made sure it never got close with a sparkling 31 from 12 balls. The unbeaten batters at the end were Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer, who have been in the middle in some of the past fluffed chases.

Georgia Elwiss gets Blaze home after Maddy Green 97 sets up chase

Somerset unable to defend 305 after fifties from Sophie Luff and Rebecca Odgers

The Blaze 305 for 6 (Green 97, Elwiss 75*, K Bryce 59) beat Somerset 304 for 7 (Luff 72, Odgers 50) by four wickets
Allrounder Georgia Elwiss defied the pain from an injured hand in a match-winning unbeaten 75 as The Blaze beat Somerset Women by four wickets with an over to spare at the Haslegrave Ground in Loughborough to record a fifth victory of their Metro Bank One-Day Cup season.
Visiting skipper Sophie Luff struck 72 from 76 balls, backed up by a half-century from opener Rebecca Odgers and a swashbuckling 25-ball 48 from Australian allrounder Amanda-Jade Wellington as Somerset set their Trent Bridge-based opponents a tough challenge by posting 304 for 7 in their 50 overs.
