youch! Smashes Thampi's helmet to finish. A searing bouncer from Milne. He goes straight up to Thampi to shake his hand. RCB resister a much-needed win, beating the Lions by 21 runs
RCB vs Guj Lions, 20th match at Rajkot, Apr 18 2017 - Match Result
11.35pm RCB were too good tonight. They batted Lions out of the contest with a 200-plus score, and their spinners were terrific on a tough pitch to bowl on. The Lions fought and scrapped but couldn't quite get enough in the end. Negi and Chahal tied the batsmen up, and made them hit in the areas they wanted. RCB have lifted themselves off the bottom of the table, but the Lions have been perched there.
Presentation.
Chris Gayle is the Man of the Match: "I like that name(UniverseBoss). He's back. Even better to be back in the field. Fans want to watch Chris Gayle, it's been fantastic. It all depends on how you feel. Determination is important. A special occasion to reach 10000 runs. A lot of guys spoke to me about my stance. Even Shaun Pollock spoke to me about my stance. You're never too old to learn. People still looking out for Chris Gayle. The UniverseBoss is still here and still alive."
Virat Kohli: "There's a lot of strapping on the shoulder, not getting to my head anymore, shoulder fit and fine. Happy to get those two points. People told me it's just one run, but I won't change my attitude, I've played my cricket like that. Chris took his opportunity beautifully. He batting like that allows me to bat through the innings, and I can chip my way out. We thought we were 30 runs above par. Negi was outstanding, very brave, not getting scared. Not many people believe in his abilities. Chahal is not scared, his biggest plus point is he always wants to take wickets."
Suresh Raina: "We played well, we batted well. 200 was chaseable. More than 200 is difficult to chase. Our bowling giving too many runs. They (bowlers) have to vary their pace, bowl slow. It's a worry for us, the spin department."
shortish delivery outside off, pulled to long-on for a run
taken. Chahal takes the catch. Good length delivery outside off, Kishan is through his pull, the ball skews off the outside half and settles in Chahal's catch at cover. A quality fight from Kishan though
This game's done now
another legcutter on off, skewed to deep square leg for one
a legcutter outside off, heaved to long-on for a couple. Kohli was happy to give the second there
a wide yorker outside off, Tye misses a swing. Ooh, close. I'd have called that a wide
Right then. 26 off 6. They'll need to run a bye if Tye misses. Who's going to bowl? milne
he gets the boundary here. A slower ball on leg, right in the swinging arc. Kishan swings and gets plenty behind it. Way over deep square leg for six more.
good delivery. A short, slow bouncer. It takes Kishan completely by surprise. He ducks underneath and then screams at himself after
They need one more boundary at least in these next two
oh no. That's a low full toss, Kishan picks it up and swings merrily over midwicket. That's a massive blow. Much much needed. Poor ball
gives himself room and misses a drive. Good idea, flawed execution.
Another 18 off this over and who knows? Four men inside the circle in the off side
sliced through point. Full and wide outside off, Kishyan gets under it and carves the ball in front of point
a wide yorker. Just outside the tramline though. A wide called
he's dropped another. This is an easy catch. A slower ball outside off, Kishan swings. Kohli runs back from long-on, and spills his reverse-cupped catch. Was conscious of the boundary so close to him. But that should have been gobbled up.
Aravind will finish
dropped by Kohli. A catch he'll be disappointed he did not take. Flat and quick, heaved wide of long-on. Kohli runs to his right, sticks out his right hand but the ball pops out. Not an easy catch at all
flat outside off, Tye misses a pull
Tye
a mix-up and Jadeja is run-out. Full and straight, pushed to long-on. Jadeja was on the back foot, Kishan was always coming back for the second. Jadeja puts his hand out but Kishan keeps coming. Jadeja was ball-watching. Negi picks up and does the basics well. Kishan made the crease at the bowler's end before jadeja came back
flat and wide, pulled to long-on for one
gets under that. Flat and straight, Kishan stays in the crease and sweeps over midwicket for six.
shortish on middle, scythed to deep point for a run
he's got that though. It is a good length but Kishan anticipates it. Stays back, gets the length he wanted and pulled over midwicket for six. Nice stroke
