37.6 to WA Young, nabbed at point! Bangladesh finally break through. There was a dropped catch, overthrows, a seven and what not, but Shoriful eventually gets Young, who is enticed into a drive off that full length ball a touch wide of off. Young played that away from his body, and the ball flew off the outside edge to the man at point, leaving Shoriful leaping. Another fifty not converted by Young, but it was a fine innings nevertheless. 148/1 112.4 to DJ Mitchell, outside edge, and caught behind! There was a clear noise there, but Mitchell has reviewed the original out decision. But there was a clear outside edge there, as is confirmed by replays. It was just that perfect length from Shoriful from around the wicket, pitching it on that fullish length in the channel just outside off. Mitchell tried to come forward to defend, but his bat was away from pad, with his front heel not entirely grounded either while trying to block. A clear edge there, and Bangladesh strike again as New Zealand lose a review. 423/5

105.4 to LRPL Taylor, Taylor is gone! Is this his final Test innings? The Bangladesh players rush to give him a pat on the back, with the Oval crowd applauding a New Zealand great back in the dressing room. In fact, the new batter Nicholls waits back inside to allow Taylor to soak in the moment all by himself. He has a hoick to the leg side to this fuller ball on off, and tries to play across the line. But the ball seemed to have come from the inside half of the bat while also angling in a touch, and found the stationed at square leg. He had been trying to go after the shots, and even missed, and this time he falls. 411/3 109.1 to HM Nicholls, loud appeal for caught behind by Bangladesh, the umpire doesn't give and Mominul reviews. It is a back of a length ball on middle, as Nicholls presents the full face of the bat while trying to block. But there is a gap between bat and pad, and replays confirm there is a little tickle off the inside edge as the ball carries to the keeper. In fact, the ball even brushed his back leg before the ball carried, prompting Nicholls to immediately look back too. Ebadot strikes for the second time today, and New Zealand lose their third of the morning. 414/4

125.4 to TWM Latham, top edge, and gone! Latham attempted another big hit, but this time didn't get the placement and timing he would have liked. This ball was bowled slower than the previous ones, and was again tossed up. Latham was into his shot early, and sent that skying to the man close in at square leg. A captain's knock comes to an end - what an innings! Latham was at the crease for 125 overs, right from ball one yesterday. 499/6 |

2.5 to Mohammad Naim, Naim falls for a duck on debut. Short of a length angled in, extra bounce from there, Naim rises to defend, but the ball then trims the stumps after taking the inside-edge. Not the way to go but Southee will take it. Bangladesh in trouble inside 3 overs. 11/2 6.1 to Mominul Haque, another one! This is a procession and Southee is pumped. He shifted over the wicket and bowls this on a fuller length on middle, swings in nicely and Mominul plays all around the flick, the ball hits leg-stump. The Kiwis are hooping the ball around corners and the visitors have no answers. 11/4 28.6 to Nurul Hasan, huge appeal for leg before, and given after much thought! But Nurul reviews. He reviewed that immediately after the umpire gave that out. It was a back of a length ball pitching just outside off, and angling in sharply. Nurul's bat remained around off stump, while his pad remained stuck on middle and leg. There was thus that huge gap there, and as UltraEdge confirmed, no inside edge. And replays show the ball would have clipped the leg stump on umpire's call. So Bangladesh lose Nurul, but not the review. 87/6

1.2 to Shadman Islam, edged and gone! Scrambled seam back of a length delivery outside off, Shadman just hung his bat and the edge is found, nice height and carry to 2nd slip and Latham makes no mistake. A wicket in his first over for Boult. 7/1 5.2 to Najmul Hossain Shanto, three down! Lovely late swing for Boult and it turns Shanto inside-out. The ball is on middle on a fullish length, the late movement away opens Shanto and the edge flies to Latham at 2nd slip who again accepts with no issues. Shanto was handling Boult well but that's the perfect delivery which proved to be his undoing. 11/3 11.2 to Litton Das, 299 for Boult! Das who was looking confident falls 2nd ball after tea. Floated full outside off, Das bends low to cover-drive but plays outside the line of the ball, the thin inside-edge is held low by Blundell. Clear edge and Das has to go. 27/5 37.4 to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, bowled him! Boult has his 300th Test wicket. He gets the red cherry to show it off to the crowd at the Oval. Boult darted one in on a good length while pitching it outside off from around the stumps, as the ball angled in a touch to hit Mehidy's off stump. Mehidy's bat there was on middle while he was almost crouching to tap at that. 109/7 41.2 to Shoriful Islam, stumps knocked back, and that is five for Boult! His ninth Test five-for. Boult pitches it full and straight on middle and off, with a hint of swing away from the batter at the last moment. Shoriful played forward with the full face of the bat - perhaps he wanted to drive aerially when I look at that bat position - but the ball ended up crashing into off stump. 126/10
9 | 3 | 32 | 2 | 3.55 | 41 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
38.4 to Taskin Ahmed, taken by Young tumbling to his right! Taskin went swinging at that fullish ball on middle and off, and sent that sailing in the sky. Young at midwicket has to wait a while before the twirling ball settles into his hands and gifts Jamieson his first wicket. 118/8 40.4 to Yasir Ali, backs away, and finds the man at deepish midwicket! He tried to made room to that short of a length ball on middle and leg, and ended up pulling off the toe end of the bat. Mitchell there has to go low to try and grab that, especially with the sun beating down his eyes. Good take there, and that brings an end to a very confident-looking innings from Yasir. 126/9

36.1 to Mohammad Naim, a stunning catch by Latham by second slip! Who needs a third slip when you can hold on to those? Latham dives to his left with his left hand stretched out, and tumbles while completing the catch, with the ball stuck into his hand. Naim went driving at that full, enticing delivery outside off, but got an outside edge flying. 105/3

13.5 to Shadman Islam, flying one-handed catch and that's a strangle down leg. Shadman head down walks back. Down leg, he could've left that alone but feathered a fine nick which Blundell pouched by flying across. Shadman who was looking in no trouble at all falls to a soft dismissal. 27/1 71.5 to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, outside edge, and nabbed by Latham at second slip! Jamieson banged that in short on off, and with that height of his, he gets a little bit of extra bounce, along with the ball seemingly going slower off the pitch to Mehidy. He tries to keep his bat within the line of stumps pretty late, with the ball angling in too, and the ball takes the outside edge. Jamieson has two now. 244/7 75.2 to Litton Das, rapped on the pads, and given leg before after an animated appeal! But as expected, Litton has reviewed. It was a fullish ball on middle and off, and hinting to shape in, and eventually going on to hit Litton's back pad while seemingly brushing the side of his front pad too. Litton is trying to drive from off stump, and so there is a gap between bat and pad. Yup, the ball kissed his front pad, and so that is the point of impact. There is no inside edge, and to Litton and Bangladesh's misery, replays confirm it as an umpire's call on clipping leg stump. So Litton has to walk back after a dominating knock, helping Bangladesh fight back. 269/8 77.2 to Shoriful Islam, well taken by Southee at mid-on! He had to keep his eyes on the ball all through, while also running to his right. That was well judged. Shoriful went for the lofted shot to that full delivery which is almost in the slot on middle and off, and although he played with a high elbow, he couldn't really time that, instead ballooning it up for grabs. Mid-off briefly thought it was his catch, before he let Southee go for it. 269/9

26.2 to Najmul Hossain Shanto, this time Boult gets it right into his palms! And Wagner lets a roar out. Shanto has a go at that short ball outside leg again - perhaps boosted by the boundaries he got last over - as the ball angles away after pitching, and he pulls with a swivel and with his front leg in the air. But the ball flies right where Boult was positioned at fine leg, which was finer than usual. 71/2 44.4 to Mominul Haque, poor shot and Mominul is gone. Full and outside off, the sucker delivery, Mominul already played a drive earlier in the over but here the weight transfer isn't right, drives from the crease, watches the thick edge fly to Taylor's right at 1st slip who takes a sharp catch. Such great hands from the veteran and even though he picked it late, he holds on. Wagner roars in delight. 123/4 46.4 to Yasir Ali, all sorts of trouble against the short ball and Yasir pops a simple catch to walk back. Wagner with the short ball doing the damage. Right at the chest of Yasir who fends as he is turned around, does not know where the ball is, off the shoulder of the bat and a simple catch to Latham coming in from 2nd slip. 128/5

63.6 to Nurul Hasan, such a poor shot and Mitchell is pumped. Good catch by Wagner running to his left from mid-off. Length ball outside off, Sohan's bat turns as he slices the loft, Wagner keeps his eyes on the ball and comes up with the catch two-handed on the slide. Out of nowhere, Bangladesh have contrived to throw away a wicket. Not needed at all as the runs were coming and New Zealand were searching for answers. 229/6

79.3 to Ebadot Hossain, that has gone high in the air, and Taylor finishes his Test career with a wicket! Has anyone ever had it better? New Zealand win, and Taylor has a ball - literally! His team-mates surround him from all around, barely even allowing him to be seen. What a way to sign-off. Full credit to Taylor for tossing the ball up on a full length and wide of off, enticing Ebadot to go for a heave, which he does, but sends that skying toward midwicket, where Latham - the man who handed over the ball to Taylor - takes it tumbling across to his left. The series is levelled 1-1 after this win. 278/10 |
