The Zouks are still alive in CPL 2019 and the Tallawahs are out! Full ball on fourth stump, Santokie drives powerfully over extra cover with the field up to end the match.
That wraps up tonight's coverage. Come back tomorrow night when the Tridents host the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots. A win for the Patriots and they'll clinch a playoff berth but a loss and they'll be relying on the Tridents to beat the Zouks in order for both the Tridents and the Patriots to both shore up a spot in the 2019 CPL playoffs. Until then, I'm Peter Della Penna. Take care!
Tallawahs captain Chadwick Walton: "At the halfway stage, I thought we were 20 runs short. I thought Kesrick bowled pretty decent tonight and unfortunately the Zouks got over the line. We haven't really put a complete game together and that's why we're sitting at the bottom of the table."
Zouks captain Darren Sammy: "We knew that to stay in the competition we had to win this game. I've been begging Kesrick Williams to lead this bowling attack throughout this competition and the way he stood up today backed up by Fawad... then the start that Jimbo and Fletcher gave us and I've always talked about the way Hardus can bat. Injecting him at No. 5, it was a good game for us."
Kesrick Williams is the Player of the Match for his 3 for 24: "It's been a long time coming. I've been working really hard in the nets and it feels good to come through for the team when we really needed it. Me and the skipper had a long chat before and also the bowling coach. I said I'm just gonna bowl slower balls on this wicket because they're working and use the faster ball as a surprise. I like to be under pressure and I think it brings out the best in me."
11:52 pm So the Tallawahs have been KO'd from making the playoffs for the first time in CPL history. The Zouks, for so long a cursed franchise, are still alive and kicking for a chance at one of the last two playoff spots but will need a lot of help hoping the Tridents stumble through their final three league stage matches. The Tridents can knock out the Zouks if the Tridents can win the remaining matchup between the two sides in Bridgetown, regardless of what the Tridents do in their two other remaining matches. After some horrendous fielding by the Zouks early in the match, the Tallawahs could not capitalize on it in the latter stages of the first innings to get a sufficiently defendable total.
Just one needed off the final over. Universe Boss to bowl it. Around the stumps.
Out of the ground, and the Tallawahs are just about out of CPL 2019! Waist heigh full toss outside off, Sammy annihilates this over the roof over midwicket. Scores are level. Luckily not called a no ball on height or that would have been the winning run too.
back of a length on middle, tap and run in front of point.
in the slot full on fifth stump, Sammy driven flat to long-off.
yorker stabbed out back to the bowler.
chest high full toss, Sammy slogs this to Griffith at deep midwicket where the catch is taken but a no ball called on height and Sammy decides not to run wanting the free hit.
game of inches surviving the runout chance previous ball and now the Tallawahs may be toast! Length ball on fourth stump, Sammy heaves this in his inimitable style high over cow corner.
missed runout! Back of a length ball on middle stump, guided to backward point. Sammy calls for the run from the non-striker's end but is slow shuffling to make his ground. A last ditch dive would have been in vain but the throw from Ramaal Lewis bounces just wide of the stumps. Sammy's elbows are all scraped up.
After two wides from around the stumps, Springer changes to over the wicket.
and now another, too full now and angled down leg again.
sprays a wide short and angled well down leg to begin. Crucial free run at a tense time.
Zouks needed 45 off 45 balls with six wickets in hand but are on the verge of somehow blowing this entering the last two overs needing 19 to win. The Zouks dugout looks incredibly nervy. Springer to bowl the 19th. Starts around the stumps to the lefty Santokie.
short on the stumps, top-edges a pull that falls into no man's land in midwicket in the ring with Imran tracking it down off a bounce in his follow-through.
bowled flat and full on sixth stump, beaten on a back-foot drive.
bowled short and well outside leg stump, Sammy backs away to punch awkwardly through mid-off.
floated full on off, driven flat and firm to long-off.
the persistence with the around the stumps angle finally pays off! Not the greatest ball in the world. Bowled short on leg stump spinning across, Barnwell goes back to swat this over long-on but no elevation. Smith is there 10 yards in from the rope to take this at waist height. Tallawahs are somehow still in this match.
good length ball on middle, punched to cover.
Imran back around the stumps to the righties.
this one spins in sharply from outside off stump into the pads, huge lbw shout from Zahir as the ball ricochets to square leg. The umpire is unmoved.
bowls this googly on off stump, straightening but Barnwell goes back to flick through square leg for a sharp two.
Changes to around the stumps.
flighted full on off, driven firmly to long-off, diving stop by Liton after running 15 yards right saves it from being four.
googly once more on fourth stump, goes back to punch to cover.
