that's all over. Riaz bowls length, outside off, and he gets under it and extends those long arms through it again. Sends it over wide long-off for six to win this for Perth
Lahore Lions vs Scorchers, 19th Match, Group A at Bengaluru, Sep 30 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Scorchers won by 3 wickets (with 6 balls remaining)
That's all from us in this game. Don't forget to switch to the other tab
"It certainly was tight," says Mitch Marsh, who is also the Man of the Match. "Certainly not the start we would have wanted. Those totals are not always easy, and they have an experienced bowling line-up. Joel has announced himself, and he has a massive future. Just had a bit of a tight hammie, fingers crossed all will be good. It has been fantastic. Although we lost those two close games, we take a lot out of them. We are a young side, a lot to take out of this tournament for us."
"We were short on the board," says Mohammad Hafeez. "We played bad shots, but I feel our spinners brought us back in. Mitchell Marsh played his shots and turned it their way. We didn't play good shots at the top, which put pressure on the boys, but Umar Akmal and Nasim had an exceptional tournament. There was dew towards the end, which made it difficult, but we had the chances and we believe Mitch Marsh made all the difference. We are proud of what we have achieved here."
What a dramatic match then. Even after underscoring, Lahore looked like they could bowl Perth out for 78 and qualify. However, that was to be a highly improbable task, taking a wicket every 7.8 runs. Lahore's spinners ran circles around Perth, reduced them to 40 for 6, but Marsh and Hogg saw not only Lahore out of the tournament, but also Perth to a consolation win
that's a beautiful shot. Riaz goes for the yorker, he has missed it by inches, and Marsh gets under it and lofts it straight back for a big six. It is just his long arms extending beautifully into it
length ball outside off, driven with an open face, gets a single to deep point
slower short ball, and Hogg holds his shape and pulls this clean over midwicket for six. This is picked well by Hogg, and he is proving to be Lahore's nemesis
short of a length, at the stumps, pushed to short cover
bouncer, a loopy one, it seems to have bounced too high. And it has been called too
yorker, outside off, dug out to long-off for one
down the wicket, driven hard through the bowler's hands, brings up his fifty with the single
googly, a touch too short, and is punched down to long-off for one
short of a length this time, punched to deep cover for one
tossed-up wide legbreak. Marsh doesn't get a good connection on the drive
flat wide down the leg side. Hogg is nearly run out as he is eager for that extra but Marsh sends him back
short again. Not as short as the previous one, but Marsh stays back and rockets this away for a flat six over midwicket. He has clearly decided this is the over that is to decide the game
and he starts with a long hop. Too short, and Marsh rocks back to pull this wide of long-on for four
Nasim to bowl his last over
short of a length, angling in, defended to straight midwicket
length ball, middle and leg, driven to long-on for one
is that the match? Marsh drives, but he is not close enough to the ball, and he has sent this off the outside half of the bat towards deep cover. Saeed charges in from deep cover, gets there, but can't bend down in time. What's more? He lets it slip through for four
good yorker, squeezes it under his bat, Umar Akmal collects it gingerly
driven on the up, to long-on for one
short of a length, outside off, stays low to beat the bottom edge on his cut
