and the wrong'un finishes it off. Finally a win for Kohli as captain. This is a wrong'un that Chameera has padded up to. Hit in front of off. Quite straightforward
Sri Lanka vs India, 2nd Test at Colombo, Aug 20 2015 - Ball by Ball Commentary
1.36pm My apologies I haven't got everything down from the Sanga speech, you can still watch it here. And what a special speech it was. Straight from the heart, fighting his tears, bidding goodbye to what has been his life over the last 15 years. Just read/watch the speech again and again. That's a perfect goodbye...
And in case you missed any of the action earlier, you can watch Ashwin's 12th Test five-for here, all the highlights from the last day here, and everything else in our highlights index.
1.27pm Now time for Sanga himself to speak. "I have so many people to thanks. First of all everybody who has come here. Then my college. Trinity College. It was an amazing school to go to. I owe a lot to the grounding and foundation I got there. To all my coaches, Mr Sunil Fernando who is here. He was from my rival school, but he was kind enough to coach me. Mr Bertie Wijesinghe, who is in his 90s. Huge inspiration to me. To all my past captains, to all my team-mates, the support, the inspiration, the drive you have shown, I value very very highly. All the moments in the dressing room, I am going to miss that very much. To Charlie and Suthami Austin, it has not been an easy job managing me. But you have become much more than a manager. Thank you most of all for making me the godfather of your beautiful children.
"A lot of people have asked me what has inspired. I don't have to look beyond my parents [chokes up]... Pauses. I am sorry I don't want to embarrass you but you have been my inspiration. And my siblings. [Chokes up again]. Thank you amma and appachi. I felt safe at home. They say you can't choose your family, but I am thankful I was born your children and your sibling. I am sorry I don't always get emotional, but this is the rare time that my parents and my siblings are here.
"People asked me the big achievements. The hundreds, the WC win, but I just look up at the box, all my friends over the last 30 years, have come up here on a Monday to watch me play. To be able to go back to a family that will love me whether I win or lose. That is my greatest achievement.
"Finally to Virat and the Indian team. Thanks for the kind words and more importantly the quality of cricket you have brought here. I couldn't have asked more anything more than tough cricket when I am leaving. You have been out toughest opponents. We have planned to beat you. Sometimes we have succeeded, sometimes we haven't, but thanks for being there.
"Finally to Angie and my team. Angie, you have an amazing team. You have an amazing future. Just be fearless. Don't be afraid to lose when going for a win."
1.12pm Now for a Sangakkara presentation. Arjuna Ranantunga and Sunil Gavaskar are there. Officials are giving speeches. Mementos are being given. Mahela Jayawardene seen chatting with Indian players. He has been given a Test jersey signed by all Sri Lankan players. The Indian team too has given him jersey signed by all Indian players. It's No. 269, which means it is Kohli's jersey
He has apparently been offered the post of high commissioner to UK by the new Sri Lanka president
Sunil Gavaskar to Kumar Sangakkara: "Kumar in my mother tongue means young boy. When they grow older they become Sri. In the heart of all cricket lovers, you will always remain Kumar. And now I welcome you to join.... drum roll... former cricketers' club."
12.58pm India's first Test win in more than a year. They last won a Test in last July, but they have had a tough tour of Australia since. They should have added a win to that last week in Galle, but to come back from such a heart-breaking defeat, to believe in yourself three days later, to keep pushing for a win that was never going to come easy, India have shown character
Two moments that stand out for me. Post lunch on day three, after India had tried everything in the first session for no wicket, Ishant Sharma came out bowling bouncers on a slow pitch and was hit for three boundaries. India in the recent past have stubbornly continued with a plan that is not working, but it took this team less than an over to give up. There was enough enterprise in trying something new, but enough common sense in shelving it when it didn't work
The other moment was late on day four when Amit Mishra wanted a deep point when he was turning the ball square. You could see Virat Kohli tell him if you pitch it up, the ball won't go to that man. It is really refreshing to see an India captain try to refuse the bowler a boundary rider when we have become used to watching that too often, much to our frustration
And, as Ashwin and others have mentioned, it was a really heartbreaking defeat in Galle. To come back from that so well is not easy
12.46pm Time for the presentation
"Came close twice before," says Virat Kohli. "Once in Adelaide, once in Galle. We played really good cricket in both those Tests; if we had done it for one more session... Commendable effort to regroup so soon and putting up this show. As Rahul mentioned, he takes up the gloves because Saha is injured, and he takes a blinder first ball. That is an example of how everybody chipped in. Everyone apart from Stuart bowled today. As I said, once we took those early wickets, we wanted to bowl attacking lines and didn't want to lose time. In the first innings you have to applaud Stuart because on that pitch he bowled great control to keep my other bowlers fresh. And I just want to congratulate Kumar again on a wonderful career. I have spoken a lot about him, everyone has, in the last week, but I can't help saying it again that it has been an absolute pleasure playing with you."
"I was a wicketkeeper till under-19. Then on I didn't get chance to keep. I enjoy it. Pretty happy I took a good catch first ball," says KL Rahul, Man of the Match. "Pretty pleasing as a youngster to get two hundreds in four matches. A lot to learn. I go more confident into the next Test. Just a very happy feeling firstly to get called up to play for the national team, and then to score two hundreds in four games."
"Pretty disappointed with the way things went," says Angelo Mathews. "We didn't play our best cricket. More disappointed we didn't win it for Sanga. We promised him we would play our best cricket, but we didn't. The best days for batting were second and third, and we clearly didn't capitalise. After they took the lead, they batted really well and put us under a lot of pressure. The wicket was quite demanding, but we could have put on a better show on the last day. Having said that, India, especially Ashwin, bowled really well. On behalf of the team, we can't thank Sanga enough for his services over the last 15 years."
12.34pm Kohli is relieved at finally winning a Test at captain. He might have made mistakes, but there is a lot of promise there. MIshra and Rahane have a stump each. As does Ashwin. Kumar Sangakkara comes out to the field with a smile on his face. He is finally done. What a champion he has been. Shakes hands with the Indians. All I can hear is "thank you very much" to everybody. And now on to hugging and bidding farewell to his own team-mates. There is a bit of relief on his face. Wonder how next morning will be. No Test matches to look forward to. No bowlers to plan against. No fitness standards to maintain. No double-hundreds left. No more Sangappeals. How will the next morning be? And now Sangakkara poses for a photograph with the ground staff
"I am not looking at just the numbers," Ashwin says. "The way I bowled this morning has got to be one of the best spells I have ever bowled. Back in 2011-12, when I was playing in Adelaide, I read a piece from Sanjay Manjrekar that I was not stable at the crease when releasing the ball. I had bowled 50 overs so I was a bit tired, but there was merit to that piece. I am now more stable when releasing the ball. The wickets here are really slow, you have to really put in a lot to get purchase. Yesterday with the new ball I was slow because I wanted the new ball to bounce, but this morning with the older ball I had to put in a lot of overspin to get bounce out of the pitch. After Galle I was heartbroken. We just sat together and told everybody what all of us felt because we were all feeling bad. Just to get it out of the system, with only three days in between, was a good thing. To bounce back like this is superb."
"I remember when I first took note of Sangakara. The Nat-west series which was made famous by the Ganguly celebration. The third team in the series was SL. And though on a losing cause, a less known Sanga came out literally "ALL GUNS BLAZING" and took India bowling apart. I dont know if anyone else remember that but definitely, bowlers on Indian side that day wont forget! " Daison, that's my first memory of Sanga. It was in Bristol. He was unstoppable that day

12.30pm Welcome back. Yadav to finish off the interrupted over
12.20pm It looks overcast at P Sara, but it is not raining. So we are on track for a 12.30pm resumption
11.53am It has stopped raining, but they have taken an early lunch. The ground should be ready by the time we come back for the formalities at 12.30pm. India have had the near perfect session, with all their four main bowlers taking wickets. It is just that the rain has teased Kohli, who is waiting for his first Test win as captain and has come close twice - a bit. He should get this done a third time
11.48am They have to go off. This is really heavy rain. Loud cheers in the ground. Groundsmen grinning as they bring the covers on. Suddenly the urgency to cover the ground that you see on other days has gone missing. The rain has also slowed down
low full toss, pushed past cover as it is pouring heavily now
Getting heavier
11.47pm It is raining

big lbw appeal off another wrong'un, but this is turning too much and missing leg, according to Umpire Tucker, who has had a good match, including spotting that "your wife is hot" coaster
tearshan: "watching the match from office. 5 kms away from ground. it is started raining. praying for a flood"
Dushmantha Chameera is the last man in. India one strike from their first Test win under Virat Kohli. It is getting darker. Fifteen minutes to go to lunch. If the wicket doesn't fall in those 15 minutes, lunch will be pushed back by half an hour
wrong'un. That's why legspinners are so difficult for the tail. He has bowled him four legbreak, got him moving forward to defend them, and then slipped in the googly. Kaushal is beaten by a long distance, and is hit in front of middle. Seems like clipping leg or just going down
flatter and shorter, Kaushal sees this early and pulls this away for four
slow in the air, tantalisingly slow legbreak. Kaushal defends off the back foot
high, dipping, drifting legbreeak. Defended well, though
nice legbreak, Kaushal in a bit of a tangle before defending this back
Mishra to bowl to a right-hand batsman now
short of a length, at the stumps, defended from the crease
Avinash: "Yadav is in for Ashwin, despite the fact that Ashwin took a wicket in his last over. Looks like Kohli wants Yadav to bounce the tail of SL, as Prasad and Chameera did to the Indian tail."
Over the wicket to Herath

He has got some treatment, and is back to face Yadav from round the wicket
He has got him smack on the bowling thumb
he has got him on the glove, but the ball has bounced into his chest and fallen safely. Mean bouncer from round the wicket
