That's it Sri Lanka win by an innings and 153 runs, they now lead the series 1-0. This is Sri Lanka's third test win against South Africa. Wonderful effort from Muralitharan to pick up 6 wickets in second innings and 10 wickets for the match.
Highlights of the match: It was a great effort from the Sri Lankan bowlers to skittle out South Africa for 169 on day 1, Fernando and Muralitharan picking up four wickets each. Then when Sri Lanka batted, a world record partnership of 624 runs between Sangakkara and Jayawardene settled the things for Sri Lanka, it was a wonderful display of batting by both the batsmen. Sangakkara scoring 287 and Jayawardene scoring 374, which made him the top scorer for Sri Lanka in the tests, surpassing Jayasuriya's 340. Sri Lanka had a lead of 587 runs. It was going to be tough for South Africa in the second innings, but they battled well to get the match to the fifth day. Rudolph, Hall, Prince and Boucher played well, but they could not hold on for a draw as Muralitharan struck and picked up 6 wickets to win by a big margin.
Now for the presentations: Jayasuriya presents a momento to Jayawardene and Mahanama presents a momento to Sangakkara for their record breaking partnership.
Jayawardene also receives an award for becoming the highest Test scorer for Sri Lanka, he also collects the Man of the Match.
