Fuller around off and middle, chops it off the inner half through forward square leg. Invincibles win by five!
Invincibles vs Originals, 13th Match at London, Women's Hundred, Aug 09 2023 - Match Result
Well, a game that was a money's worth for the 10,682 present at The Oval. But that is not all. The men's game between Invincibles and Originals not far off. You can hop over to follow the game ball by ball. That's all we have from this women's game. On behalf of our scorers, this is Sudarshanan signing off for the evening. Take care and ciao!
"I aged another ten years," says Invincibles captain Dane van Niekerk after the thrilling win. "We have an experienced batting line-up and [games like one against Welsh Fire] are one off. Glad we got the monkey off the back and got the win. Always easy when Capsey hits the balls like that. Made it easy for me. We let the pitch dictate what we do last game. I'd rather go out and take the game on, we [Capsey and DvN] completed each other. Felt the margins were small with the pace bowlers. Ryana came to me and said I am taking it away from Dottin's arc and that, for me, is maturity beyond her years."
Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Player of the Match: "To have experiences in competitions like these gives you an edge over the others. A new challenge to bowl in different stages."
5:45pm A fantastic win for Invincibles to get off the bottom of the pile. This is a victory in pure Invincibles style - bat well, bowl well and field fantastically well. And two young guns from England are the architects of their win today. If it was Capsey's blitz with the bat early on en route a fantastic half-century, MacDonald-Gay showed wisdom far beyond her years to hold her own with the ball and pick up a four-wicket haul. Never let the Originals batters get away, not even an on song Dottin. Invincibles move up to fifth, just behind Originals, and is this their true moment of arrival in the Hundred Women's Competition 2023?
Qhubokuhle: "That 6 and 4 from Van Nikierk before she got out looks vital now"
Smacked and almost goes the distance! Length ball outside off, Threlkeld goes deep in her crease, gets low and hacks it across the line. Scholfield gets around from long-on puts in the dive to catch that but fails to reach it
Huge appeal for lbw, perhaps sliding down. She looks to defend but gets it off the front pad to the off side. Van Niekerk wants to have another look, opts for the review. Missing the stumps
Mahika Gaur is the last woman in. Runs in with her helmet in one hand and the gloves on the other. Invincibles players have their hands up in the air, as Gaur takes her time to get set
Excellent tumbling take at cover and Originals are on the brink. Full and outside off, George looks to go over cover. MacDonald-Gay takes a couple of steps to her right at covers and hangs on
Length ball around leg, she makes room and steers it to short third
Eleanor Threlkeld is in at No. 10. Gray to bowl the final set. 13 needed
Full ball outside off, Bryce goes back and across and hacks it to midwicket. Fourth wicket for MacDonald-Gay and she has been really hard to get away. Once again an off-pace ball outside off, the extra ball gets her the wicket
Slower one well wide outside off, she fails to reach it. Passes outside the tramline
Invincibles have missed the cut-off time, so they will have an extra fielder in the ring for the last six balls. 14 needed for Originals as Kathryn Bryce walks in
Is that the decisive moment? Van Niekerk times her jump at short third to perfection to end World Boss Dottin's stay. Another slower one well outside off, it is away from Dottin's arc. She goes after it and gets a thick outside edge. Van Niekerk does not miss
14 needed off 7, George is at the non-striker's end
Another legcutter at 57mph outside off, Dottin goes back and slaps it towards sweeper. They want two and Morris rushes back in a bid to get Dottin back on. The throw is spot on, MacDonald-Gay disturbs the stumps at her end before throwing it to the wicketkeeper. But Morris is well shot despite the dive
Short length ball outside off but it is the slower one at 56kph, Dottin is done in by the lack of pace and is early into her slash
Full on middle and leg, she clears her front leg and looks to go over on side but gets a thick inside edge past leg stump
10,682 people in attendance at The Oval for this thriller. MacDonald-Gay to bowl out now
Full and outside off again, she misses her slap again. Excellent end to her spell, Scholfield
Excellent bowling, three dots after the six in this set. Bowls it full outside off, slapped towards point
Full on leg, she misses her heave and gets hit on the back leg that is well outside leg
Sprays it on a length outside off, she misses her hit
Dottin goes big! On a length outside off, she gets down on her knee and powers it right down the ground
Full on middle, flicked to midwicket and runs with the shot. Direct hit would have been curtains for Morris. Gray went for the shy instead of throwing it to the bowler
Fir Morris is in, only one run via the bye off the four balls in this set so far
Huge appeal for lbw. Scholfield and Winfield-Hill are animated and convince van Niekerk to refer it upstairs. On a length around off and middle, Ecclestone goes for the down-to-up pull.Gets hit high on the back leg after she misses it. And that would have gone on to hit the stumps, shows Hawk-eye and Invincibles are vindicated again
Qhubokuhle: "that horrible finish from Oval coming back to haunt them"
Slower one outside off, she goes for the sweep but misses
Full outside off, driven to cover
