He also became only the eighth 'keeper to do so against Australia with Sri Lankan Romesh Kaluwitharana alone in doing so thrice.India's total of 315 was its highest against Australia in all matches - home or away. This obliterates the previous highest of 309 for five at Cochin on 01-04-1998.The total was also the highest ever recorded against Australia in a floodlit match. Interestingly the previous highest against Australia was also recorded by India when it made 307 for eight at Dhaka on 28-10-1998.The total was second highest for India at home soil after its record 376 for 2 against New Zealand at Hyderabad on 08-11-1999.The total was also the highest at this venue expunging the previous highest of 291 for 8 by Pakistan against India on 04-04-1999. Incidentally India's previous highest on this ground was the 287 for 8 against Pakistan on 09-03-1996 in the Wills World Cup quarter-final.It was also the joint second highest 'all out' total in all ODI matches. Sri Lanka had made 329 against West Indies at Sharjah on 16-10-1995. Pakistan had also compiled 315 against Sri Lanka at Singapore on 02-04-1996.It was the 16th time India was making a total of 300 or more in a One-Day International. It was also the ninth time the Australian's conceded a total of 300 or more. A total of 300 or more has now been achieved on 110 occasions in all.Matthew Hayden (99) made his highest score in the shorter version of the game bettering his previous best of 67 against New Zealand at Sharjah on 16-04-1994. He also became the 13th batsman in ODIs to miss the hundred by just one run. He is also the second Australian after Dean Jones (v Sri Lanka at Adelaide on 28-01-1985).The third wicket partnership of 110 between Hayden and Michael Beven is the best for this wicket at this venue obliterating the previous best of 94 between Pakistan's Shahid Afridi and Inzamam-ul-Haq against India on 04-04-1999.The partnership is also Australia's best against India in India beating the 92 run-partnership between Mark Taylor and Steve Waugh at also at this same venue on 21-10-1996.Sourav Ganguly became seventh Indian and 43rd fielder in all to complete 50 catches when he held Ian Harvey off the bowling of Ajit Agarkar. Ganguly was playing his 159th match.The wicket of Shane Warne was 254th for Javagal Srinath in his 188th match which puts him ahead of Kapil Dev (253 wickets in 225 matches). Now only Anil Kumble has taken more wickets for India than Srinath - 274 in 208 matches.Srinath's three wickets in the match takes his tally of wickets against Australia to 27 placing him at level with Ravi Shastri and moving ahead of Anil Kumble. Now only Kapil Dev with 45 wickets is ahead of Srinath for India.The 60 run victory was India's biggest win margin against Australia at home. India had beaten them by 56 runs at Delhi (NS) on 22-10-1987 during the Reliance World Cup.The victory was India's largest over Australia in a day-night encounter. India had beaten Australia by 44 runs at Dhaka during ICC KnockOut on 28-10-1998.Australia was losing a match after ten consecutive wins since 11-01-2001. Interestingly, the last team to defeat Australia was also India during the ICC Knock Out at Nairobi on 07-10-2000.Virender Shewag became only the third allrounder to score fifty plus runs and capture three wickets in the same match for India against Australia. The others being: Mohammad Azharuddin (54* & 3-19 at Delhi on 22-10-1987) and Sachin Tendulkar (141 & 4-38 at Dhaka on 28-10-1998).Virender Shewag won his maiden Man of the Match award in his fourth match.
