  • It was the 1675th ODI in cricket history.
  • It was West Indies' 412th and Zimbabwe's 176th ODI.
  • It was the 13th match between these two sides. The record now reads: Zimbabwe 4, West Indies 9.
  • Umpires Peter Parker and Simon Taufel officiating for the 32nd and 16th time respectively.
  • Zimbabwe's total (138) was its lowest in a match against West Indies in which all ten batsmen were dismissed. Though Zimbabwe was dismissed for 99 in the Hero Cup match at Hyderabad on 21-11-1993, one batsman did not bat in that match.
  • The five dismissals by Ridley Jacobs equalled the record for a West Indian in a One-Day International. It was the fourth occasion that Jacobs made five dismissals in a match. The other occasions being versus England at Kingstown on 05-04-1998, versus New Zealand at Southampton on 24-05-1999 and versus Bangladesh at Dhaka on 09-10-1999. Jacobs now enjoys the distinction of making five dismissals in a match on most occasions. He was previously at level with India's Nayan Mongia and South Africa's Mark Boucher with three such instances.
  • Jacobs also became only the third wicketkeeper to effect five dismissals in a World Series Cup match after compatriot Courtney Browne (v Sri Lanka at Brisbane on 05-01-1996) and Pakistan's Moin Khan (v Australia at Melbourne on 23-01-2000).
  • Jacobs has now made 27 dismissals (21 catches and six stumpings) in 18 day-night matches, which makes him the most successful West Indian wicketkeeper in day-night matches. Jacobs surpassed the tally of Jeff Dujon and Junior Murray who had made 24 dismissals from 25 and 16 appearances respectively.
  • The tenth wicket partnership of 34 runs between Heath Streak and Brian Murphy was Zimbabwe's best in all WSC match beating the previous record stand of seven between Grant Flower and David Brain against England at Sydney on 15-12-1994.
  • The partnership was also the Zimbabwe's best against West Indies. This obliterated the previous record stand of nine runs which was achieved on three occasions.
  • It was also the highest tenth wicket stand for Zimbabwe in a day-night match beating the 18 run stand between Mark Dekker and Eddo Brandes against Australia at Colombo RP on 26-08-1996.
  • It was also the third highest tenth wicket stand for Zimbabwe in all matches after the 36 run-partnership between Malcolm Jarvis and Andy Pycroft against India at Mumbai on 17-10-1987 and 35 run-partnership between David Brain and John Traicos also against India at Faridabad on 19-03-1993.
  • Cameron Cuffy (4-24) became the 32nd West Indian to take four or more wickets in a match. It was also the 92nd such instance for West Indies in ODIs. Incidentally Cuffy's previous best was 2 for 19 against West Indies against India at Faridabad on 17-10-1994 in his debut match.
  • West Indies was bundled out for its second lowest total in 412 ODIs. It was only four runs better than its lowest ever total of 87 set at the same venue against Australia eight years ago. It was also only the third occasion that West Indies were allout for less than 100. The other being 93 against Kenya at Pune in World Cup game on 29-02-1996.
  • West Indies' total was obviously its lowest against Zimbabwe beating the 186 for eight at Canterbury on 11-07-2000. Interestingly West Indies had never been allout in a match against Zimbabwe before.
  • West Indies' innings contained five ducks. It was the second such instance for West Indies. The other being against Pakistan at Melbourne on 20-01-1997 which was also a World Series Cup match.
  • It was the seventh time when five batsmen failed to open their account in an innings. The ODI record is of six ducks made on two occasions-both times for Pakistan-against England at Birmingham in a Texaco Trophy match on 25-05-1987 and against West Indies at Cape Town on 25-02-1993.
  • The ninth wicket partnership of 60 runs between Jimmy Adams and Nixon McLean was West Indies' second best for this wicket against all opponents. The best still remains the 63 run-partnership between Malcolm Marshall and Joel Garner against Australia at the same venue on 06-02-1985.
  • The partnership was of course the best for West Indies against Zimbabwe beating the previous best of 29 (unbroken) between Mervyn Dillon and McLean at Canterbury on 11-07-2000.
  • Heath Streak (45 and 4-8) provided the fourth instance of a Zimbabwean player making 40 plus runs and capturing four wickets in same match. Others to do so are Duncan Fletcher (69* and 4-42 v Australia at Nottingham on 09-06-1983), Gary Crocker (50 and 4-26 v India at Harare on 25-10-1992) and Neil Johnson (59 and 4-42 v Kenya at Taunton on 15-05-1999).
  • It was also only the third instance of a player scoring 40 plus runs and taking four wickets in a match against West Indies after Mark Waugh (57 runs and 5-24 at Melbourne on 15-12-1992) and Sanath Jayasuriya (44 runs and 5-58 at Port-of-Spain on 06-06-1997).
  • Streak (4-8) now holds the record of conceding least runs while capturing 4 wickets in a match for Zimbabwe. The previous record was also held by Streak as he returned the figures of 4 for 18 against Pakistan at Sharjah on 09-04-1997 .
  • Streak's figures is also the most economical by a bowler taking four wickets in a match against West Indies. South Africa's Meryck Pringle had conceded 11 runs at Christchurch on 05-03-1992.
  • Streak now holds the record of conceding least runs by a Zimbabwean in an eight over spell. The previous record was also in the name of Streak. He had conceded 15 runs against Pakistan at Karachi on 24-12-1993.
  • The match aggregate of 229 runs is the second lowest in all ODI matches in which both teams were dismissed. The lowest aggregate in all such matches still remains as 212 in the match between India and Pakistan at Sharjah on 22-03-1985.
  • Heath Streak won Man of the Match award for the fifth time in his career.
