It was a quiet Day 29 on the Star Wars points table. Though it was a double-header, there was not much impact in terms of points, and it's still Ian Chappell at No. 1.
The first game was between the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Ian, Sambit Bal and Sanjay Manjrekar all had Matthew Hayden as trump, who fetched 284 points. Sambit netted a further 138 points from Suresh Raina and Sanath Jayasuriya, while Ian had Abhishek Nayar, who got him 47. In the end, Sambit managed to score 91 more than Ian from that game.
But that was evened out in the second game between the Deccan Chargers and Kolkata Knight Riders. Both Ian and Sambit had Adam Gilchrist as trump, (174 points), and Rohit Sharma (151 points). Ian had dropped Rohit earlier but brought him back for the game, so that negated any advantage Sambit could have had. A further 45 from Andrew Symonds for Ian meant Sambit could only reduce Ian's lead from 295 to 260.
Sambit and Ian now have just three players each who aren't common picks, and only spectacular performances from those six players can cause major changes in the standings.
