PESHAWAR, Nov 26: Pakistan captain Aamir Sohail came down hard on the
selection policies and urged the selectors to show more consistency.
"We lost to Australia because of inconsistency in selection. Team was
changed for every match and its precisely because of this we never
succeeded in getting the right combination," Sohail told reporters on
Thursday.
"I hope and urge the selectors to show consistency and if that is
done, the results of this series would definitely be productive," he
added.
He said the selectors were not persistent on two or three players
which brought undue pressure on those players as well as other
members of the team. "The players can only feel confident if there is
consistency in selection. I am sure the selectors would be more
steady this time," said Sohail who faced a barrage of questions on
the subject.
Asked if he was putting the blame on the selectors for the loss of
the series to Australia, Sohail said: "Injury to key players was also
one of the factors.
But too many players were tried out by the selectors without giving
the young ones a well deserved run."
Asked if he would continue to play with unfit players, Sohail said
the selectors were announcing 16 players for limited overs
internationals but only 14 for the Test matches.
"If unfit players were playing in Tests, what can I do as it is the
selection committee which is naming those unfit players in the 14-man
team. I can't bring some boys from `muhallas' and play them in."
