The Deccan Chargers might have lost their game against the Delhi Daredevils on Wednesday but Adam Gilchrist's performance helped Ian Chappell open up a 346-point lead over Sambit Bal.
Ian reposed his faith in Gilchrist, picking him as his trump for the seventh time, and Gilchrist did not disappoint. He yielded 288, his highest haul as a trump so far. Ian had also drafted in Andrew Symonds for this game, and he fetched a crucial 125 points. Meanwhile Sambit decided to go with Rohit Sharma as his trump, who unfortunately had an off day, giving Sambit just 12 - the second-lowest in the nine games that Sambit has had him.
What could prove crucial in the final stages now is the number of transfers. While Sambit has just one left, Ian has four - which could prove decisive.
