The final match of the first Chappell-Hadlee Series was abandoned without a ball bowled.
Heavy rain throughout the week had forced the curator Kevin Mitchell junior to switch wickets,
but neither was required as showers continued. Ian Chappell and Sir Richard Hadlee presented
the captains with the trophy which will next be contested in New Zealand in 2005-06.
