Award ceremony of the U 16 & 19 Inter-Provincial tournament

The awards ceremony of the under 16 & the under 19 inter-provincial age group development tournament conducted by the National Development Center of Sri Lanka Cricket will be held on 04th June 2004 at 2.00 P.M at Sri Lanka Cricket Headquarters. The chief guest on this occasion will be President of Sri Lanka Cricket Mr. Mohan de Silva

The National Development Center, which conducts such tournaments, is the brainchild of former President of Sri Lanka Cricket - Mr. Thilanga Sumathipala. The objective of this tournament is to promote and encourage Cricket at the District level in each of the five provinces (Central, Southern, North Central, Uva and Western).

At the conclusion of these league competitions, Provincial squads will be selected to play at the inter-provincial level in order to serve the ultimate objective of Sri lank cricket, which is to enhance the standard of the game. Further, it is the view of Sri Lanka cricket that tournaments of this nature will assist in developing cricketers to face the challenge at international level at their point of elevation to such a status.
