Bermuda defeated the USA by 83 runs and Canada fortunately defeated the
Cayman Islands squad by 49 runs to set up a Champioship match on Saturday
12th at picturesque G Ross Lord Park in Toronto. The Bermudans have
reportedly indicated that they were the team to beat and on current form
and preparation, it is hard to dismiss their claim to the Americas' Cricket
Championship in 2000. Weather has been supportive, the turf pitches have
played superbly and we await some fine tuning and extra resources.
USA won the toss and fielded, Bermuda scored 232 for 10 in 47.5 overs.
Charlie Marshall again excelled with a innings of 95 runs. L Cann scored
26 runs and K Tucker 43 in their quest.
Best bowling for the USA was N. Islam with 6 wickets for 33 runs and C
Reid 2 for 34 leading the way.
Zamin Amin veteran USA player topscored with 34 runs in a losing cause.
The USA suffered from unavailability of key personnel, especially after
their two week tour to England.
Batting first, Canada could only muster 112 runs against a very good Cayman
Is. bowling attack. Their bowling attack had done wonders against the
United States and Bermuda. Canada's 112 was scored off 26 overs with J
Harris and B Rajadurai topscording with 14 runs each. S Gordon's 4/15 and
D White 2/24 being the best of the Cayman Islands bowling.

takers.
