Bihar scored a crushing innings and 88 run win over Assam on the
second day of their East Zone Under-14 Tournament match at the Keenan
Ground in Jamshedpur on Wednesday. Bihar with this outright win earned
eight points.
Having taken a handsome 148 run lead in the first innings, Bihar
bundled out Sikkim for just 60 runs in 27.2 overs. Only two of
Sikkim's batsmen, Bimal Singh (11) and S Rai (12) managed to reach
double figures. While Santosh Kumar (2 for 10) rattled the Sikkim top
order, S Nadeem (3 for 13) and Madan Kumar (3 for 13) ripped through
the middle and lower order.
Earlier, on the opening day, opting to bat Sikkim were all out for a
paltry 79 with only three batsmen, opener HD Bhutia (19), Bimal Singh
(16) and D Chettri (12) getting into double figures. Opening bowler
Santosh Kumar (4 for 22) and Madan Kumar (4 for 11) ran through the
Sikkim batting order. In reply, Bihar put up 227 on the board with
useful contributions from Sukhbinder Singh (48), Arvind Jha (29) and
Jeetender Kumar (21).
