Rob Cassell, the fast bowler, has been called up for Victoria's must-win ING Cup game against New South Wales at the SCG on Sunday after overcoming a severe groin injury. Cassell last played for Victoria in 2002-03 as his recovery from osteitis pubis, a swelling of the pelvis joint, took 18 months, and he replaces the allrounder Graeme Rummans.
Victoria are third on the table and will know how heavily they need to beat the Blues after Tasmania, who are one point ahead in second, play South Australia on Saturday. The side finishing second faces Queensland in the final at the Gabba on February 20.
New South Wales, who are in last place, named four of the VB Series-winning Australia team in their side. Brett Lee and Glenn McGrath, who twice destroyed Pakistan's top order during the finals, will join Michael Clarke and Simon Katich in an intimidating line-up. Shane Warne will return from helping Muttiah Muralitharan in Sri Lanka and has a chance to bowl against Clarke, the Allan Border Medallist who is playing his first game of the season for the Blues.
Victoria Cameron White (capt), Rob Cassell, Adam Crosthwaite (wk), Matthew Elliott, Ian Harvey, Brad Hodge, David Hussey, Brad Knowles, Michael Lewis, Andrew McDonald, Jonathan Moss, Shane Warne.
New South Wales Simon Katich (capt), Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark, Michael Clarke, Ed Cowan, Brad Haddin (wk), Phil Jaques, Brett Lee, Stuart MacGill, Glenn McGrath, Matthew Phelps, Dominic Thornely.
