The see-saw battled at the top continues. After Sambit Bal wrested the top spot from Ian Chappell, on day 25 of the IPL, Sambit lost the ground he gained and fell to No.2 on day 26.
Once again it was down to the battle of the trumps and this time it was Ian who got his pick right. He kept his faith in Sachin Tendulkar and was not disappointed - Tendulkar fetched him a crucial 166 points - the most from the past seven games that Ian has had him. Sambit meanwhile decided to go with Yuvraj Singh, who yielded one of his lowest haul of points - just 24. "Sambit is too close for comfort so I've called in the Australian artillery," Ian says. "I've drafted in Andrew Symonds in the hope he can put some distance between us. From here on my big hope is getting lucky with the trump and a couple of extra transfers might help around finals time."
Another big game today - Ian has five players and Sambit has four players lined up - with Virender Sehwag, Andrew Symonds (both in Ian's team) and Rohit Sharma (in Sambit's team) the three players who aren't common picks. Wonder which way the pendulum will swing tomorrow.
