Somerset will be looking to add Zimbabwe to their list of international scalps when they entertain the tourists in a fifty over game that gets underway at 10.45 am at the County Ground on Tuesday.
Having beaten Sri Lanka last season and Scotland on Sunday the Cidermen will be hoping their winning run continues.
The winners of the match today will be presented with a new Patrons Trophy that has been given to the club by Christopher Ondaatje who is the Club's patron.
Mr Ondaatje has a long association with the West Country after being educated at Blundell's School in Tiverton. His generosity towards Somerset County Cricket Club has included helping to provide the Centre of Excellence that is housed in the building named after the benefactor, and last season he enabled Somerset to purchase the neighbouring Barnicott's building, a key site in any future development of the ground.
One player who will be looking particularly forward to the match on Tuesday is twenty one year old Carl Gazzard who will be keeping wicket for the senior side for the first time this season.
Gazzard who comes from Penzance is the second string `keeper but has forced his way into the senior side with his aggressive batting style and has opened in several one day matches for Somerset this season. On his first appearance, against Nottinghamshire he scored his maiden fifty at this level and on Sunday he made an invaluable 81 to help to see his side to a victory.
Fast bowler Steffan Jones will also be relishing the prospect of playing against another international team. The Welshman who hails from Llanelli played for his native country against England on Saturday, he played for Somerset against Scotland on Sunday and will now face Zimbabwe on tomorrow.
The full Somerset team to face Zimbabwe is - Carl Gazzard, Peter Bowler, James Bryant, Ian Blackwell, Mike Burns, Matt Wood, Wes Durston, Keith Dutch, Gareth Andrew, Steffan Jones and Simon Francis.
