St. John's - A confident Pakistan cricket team have arrived in the Caribbean ahead of their involvement in the historic triangular One Day Series. When their plane landed at the VC Bird International Airport, it marked the beginning of a two-month visit to the Caribbean.
The Pakistanis will be involved in a triangular One Day Series which will also involve the West Indies and Zimbabwe. Wicketkeeper, Moin Khan is the captain having replaced Saeed Anwar - who will miss the One Day Series, but will play in the Tests.
Coach Javed Miandad said that his team, fresh from their success at the Sharjah Cup, were confident of doing well in not only the triangular One Day Series, but the 2000 Cable & Wireless Test Series. Speaking to reporters minutes after their arrival, Miandad said that his team had no immediate concerns over injuries and was looking forward to good performances from his team.
Although not wanting to make any predictions, Miandad said that they were hoping to win both the Test and One Day series. Former skipper of Pakistan, and a favourite in the Caribbean - Wasim Akram - was missing from the squad as he stayed in Asia to be able to take part and skipper the Asian team in the ICC's match - Asia v Rest of the World, 8th April in Sharjah. Pakistan play Zimbabwe in the Third One Day International on 5th April at the Antigua Recreation Grounds.
