Kurunegala cricket lost one of its ardent promoters of the game
in the district with the death of Gerry Perera yesterday.
Perera, a leading and one of the oldest criminal lawyers in

Perera was president of the Kurunegala District CA since 1983
and during his tenure several international matches were played
in Kurunegala. He revived the Kurunegala SC with Procter
Nandisena and late S.L.M. Cassim and held the post of secretary
in 1963 and president ten years later.
Perera served as a committee member of the Sri Lanka Cricket
Board at various intervals.
Educated at St. Anne's College, Kurunegala and St. Joseph's
College, Colombo, Perera graduated from Law College and
practised in Kurunegala Bar from 1963 to 1997. He was president
of the Kurunegala Bar Association.
