Cyprus visits Corfu

Corfu is famous for its special Easter celebrations and is also the home of cricket in Hellas. History was made in Easter Week 2005 by the first ever visit by a Cyprus cricket team to an overseas country.

17 young cricketers from Foleys School, accompanied by their teachers and parents, arrived in Corfu on 23rd April. They spent 5 days in the island and played two games against youth Hellenic teams. On the 25th took place a coaching clinic where young Corfiot & Cyprus cricketers had the opportunity to practice with Hellenic coaches.

Youth development of cricket in Cyprus started only 6 years ago but already Cyprus has a team in the U13 age group. The visit to Corfu to play "friendly" cricket matches was to help Cyprus get experience and of course the Cyprus cricketers made new friends in Hellas.
