Decisions of the ACB Directors meeting in Melbourne, 13 December 2000

The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) Directors met in Melbourne today and made the following decisions relating to several issues

The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) Directors met in Melbourne today and made the following decisions relating to several issues.
Boon replaces Marsh as Australian selector
The ACB Directors today accepted the resignation of Australian selector, Geoff Marsh, and appointed former Australian batsman, David Boon, onto the National Selection Panel. Marsh has resigned to take on a cricket consulting role with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, effective immediately.
Boon is the fourth highest run-scorer for Australia with 7422 runs at 43.65 in 107 Tests. He also played 181 one-day internationals scoring 5964 runs. Boon scored 21 Test and five one-day international centuries. Boon currently works with the Tasmanian Cricket Association in a media and promotions role. He will take his place on the National Selection Panel immediately.
Submission by Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) to reschedule the Mercantile Mutual Cup match abandoned on 15 November 2000.
The ACB Directors received and considered a submission from the WACA to reschedule the Western Warriors v Queensland Bulls Mercantile Mutual Cup match, that was abandoned by umpires on 15 November 2000.
The ACB Directors resolved that the existing playing conditions for "no result" games deal with this issue and the match will not be rescheduled. Each team has been awarded two points.
ACB Management will conduct a review of the playing conditions for Mercantile Mutual Cup cricket, focusing on the process for abandoning matches when a pitch is substandard and the use of old pitches for new games.
Submission by South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) and Cricket New South Wales (CNSW) Team Management to reschedule abandoned Pura Cup match of 15-18 November 2000.
The ACB received and considered submissions from the SACA and the CNSW Team Management to reschedule the match of 15-18 November 2000 that was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to the ground and pitch being affected by persistent rain.
The ACB Directors determined that the match not be rescheduled and that the game be treated as an abandoned match. Neither team will receive any points from the game.
ACB Management will also undertake a review of preparation guidelines and criteria for staging matches at venues other than the principal cricket grounds.
