Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa continues to make comment after comment on the matchfixing issue. In the past any cricketing issue would not be complete without Honorary Secretary Jaywant Lele's comments. After committing various gaffes Lele seems to have learnt that discretion is indeed the better part of valour more often than not. Although Dhindsa has seldom made comments as sweeping or improbable as Lele, he certainly is not content keeping quiet.
The Union Minister for Sports, who is also the head of the All India Cycling Federation has made headlines only since the matchfixing controversy broke. This new found fame and importance has given Dhindsa valuable column inches in newspapers and websites alike.
His latest comment is on the lack of courage of Indian cricketers. Ruing the fact that no cricketer has had the guts to come forward and admit to matchfixing, Dhindsa told scribes "we made an offer that anyone who makes a confession could benefit but unfortunately no one has come forward till date."
Although it was always unlikely that any Indian cricketer would take a leaf out of Cronje's book and come forward, Dhindsa was hopeful. He said that it was now upto investigating agencies to submit their findings and after that for the law to take its course. Dhindsa also flatly denied the allegation that the Government was trying to soften the blows on some top cricketers who are being investigated.
