MOHAMMAD Azharuddin, at the age of 35, will become the most
capped player in one-day cricket when he leads India against
Australia in the opening match of a tri-nation series in Cochin
today, overtaking Allan Border's record of 273 matches for
Australia.
Mark Taylor, Australia's Test captain, said he was considering
resigning over the dual-captaincy policy - different leaders for
Tests and one-dayers - which he claimed had hurt morale.
It was announced in Bombay yesterday that India would be hosting
a three-Test series next January against Pakistan, who had
agreed to send a team for the first time in a decade.
Darren Lehmann, Yorkshire's overseas player, has been appointed
captain of South Australia, replacing Jamie Siddons.
Gerard Elias has taken over as Glamorgan's chairman from David
Morgan, who has stood down.
