Of only sixteen boundaries hit in the match, Srikkanth scored ten. Once he had been brilliantly thrown out from long leg by Cowans, England bowled and fielded much better. Then, needing 236 to win, they looked to be on the way to getting them until Gower hit a full toss straight to deep mid-wicket. Their last eight wickets after that realised just 55 runs, Siva and Shastri both turning the ball on a much-used pitch.
