Captain of England and Sussex. Promoted to Captain of England from Vice Captain during the winter tour to Australia and New Zealand, January 2000. Led England to victory in One-Day International Series against South Africa this summer. Left-arm spinner and right-hand bat. Opens the batting for Sussex and opened for England U-21 for four years. Senior Test and ODI debut against India in 1995. Took a hat-trick against India last summer and was Vodafone All-Rounder of the series.
Teaches English and PE at her old school, Brighton College, whose team reached the finals of the Indoor Sixes this year. Born 1 September 1976.

Left arm swing bowler, right hand bat. Made her test debut against India in 1995. Captain of Yorkshire, who won the County Championships 2000 without losing a match. Named Vodafone All-rounder of the series playing for England against South Africa this summer; England won the series 3-2.
Learned to play with Knaresborough CC and was the only girl in the junior teams. Also plays tennis and hockey. Works for Yorkshire Water as a technical assistant. Born 14 March 1972.

England's leading leg-spin bowler. Middle order, left-hand bat, who opens for Yorkshire. Captained England U-19s for two years and made senior debut in 1992. Maiden Test century (144) against New Zealand in 1996 included a world record stands with Melissa Reynard.
Len Hutton once played for her for her first club, Pudsey St Lawrence. Skippered several boys' teams. After GCSEs and A Levels joined Customer Services at the Yorkshire Bank. Born September 1973.

Opening medium pace bowler. A double international who has represented England at both cricket and soccer. A member of the winning World Cup Cricket squad in 1993 and again in 1997. Played in the Soccer World Cup in 1995, and shares the honour of representing her country in Cricket and Football with one other professional player, Sir Viv Richards. Was Vodafone bowler of the series against South Africa this summer and against India in 1999.
Made a Sport England Sporting Ambassador in 1999 to promote healthy lifestyles among young people in her area. Read Geography and was awarded an honorary MA by Hull University for her Services to Sport. Works for Royal Mail. Born 22 May 1965.
Jane Cassar

Stylish right-hand, top order bat and England's wicket keeper since 1992. A member of the winning 1993 World Cup team. Took her 50th wicket and with it the world record in the opening match against Australia this winter, and won the tour's Vodafone Award for Best Fielding.
Former Nottinghamshire Hockey player and still plays for Crimson Ramblers. Lives and works in Derbyshire, and married to Derbyshire player Matt Cassar. Born 24 December 1972.
Dawn Holden

Off spin bowler and middle order to low order bat. Played for England U-17s, U-21s and the successful England A side in the European Cup last summer. Started playing with Urchester boys U-12, then U-15s. Started indoor cricket with Nottingham before joining her present team and playing alongside Jane Cassar.
Finished her GNVQ in Leisure and Tourism and A-level Sports Studies last summer. Born 9 September 1980.

Fast bowler. First joined the senior England squad for the winter tour. Earlier last year played in the England A side that won the European Cup. Selected for England U-17s in 1998. Started playing Kwik Cricket aged seven with her father and brothers at Earl Shilton. Continued to play with them until joining Thrumpton. Going into her final year of Leisure and Tourism studies and hopes to go on to complete a Sports Science degree. Born 30 December 1981.

Right hand bat and wicket keeper. Toured South Africa with England U-21s in 1998 and averaged over 50. Joined the senior squad against Australia in the same year.
Read Maths at Oxford, played cricket and captained the hockey team there. Also represented England in U-17 and U-19 hockey squads. Works as a systems analyst for Proctor and Gamble in Middlesex. Born 25 September 1975.
Charlotte Edwards

First selected for England, aged 16, against New Zealand in 1996 and remained in the senior side since. Prolific runscorer, her highest score is 173* against Ireland in the 1997 World Cup on the day before her 18th birthday. Captained the England U-21s against South Africa in 1998. Scored her maiden Test Century (108) against India last summer.
Won the Vodafone Best Batting Award for the winter tour to Australia earlier this year and took the best Batsman award (First Division) in this year's County Championships. Works for Hunts County Bats. Born 17 December 1979.
Barbara Daniels

Right hand top order bat. Senior international debut in the winning 1993 World Cup team and vice-captain of England from 1995-8. Captained the U-19s for two years. Shares the sixth wicket record stand of 132 with Kathryn Leng, playing against New Zealand in 1996 and scored 160 in the same match. Had excellent One Day International Series against South Africa this summer, making 231 runs in the five games to take the Vodafone Batsman of the Series Award. Captained her county Staffordshire to promotion into Division One at this year's County Championships.
