Footitt to leave Nottinghamshire

Mark Footitt, the left-arm fast bowler, has been released from his contract at Nottinghamshire.

Footitt, 23, played against Oxford UCCE in June this year, but has failed to be included in the first team since.

"It's a shame things haven't worked out for Mark, but hopefully he will have the opportunity to go on trial with another county before the end of the season and get a fresh start," said Mick Newell, Nottinghamshire director of cricket.

Footitt took 23 wickets from nine first-class matches with Nottinghamshire, but suffered with injuries, including a bulging disc in his back which ruled him out of last season.
