England yesterday named a 14 man squad for next month's Natwest Triangular
Series. The squad for the tournament - involving West Indies and Zimbabwe -
is relatively short on surprises. Uncapped Nottinghamshire seamer Paul
Franks is bought into the squad for the first time, after a successful
winter for the 'A' team. Speaking of the selection, David Graveney said:
"Paul Franks has been in excellent form this season, and we expect him to
compete for a place in our starting line-up."
Graham Thorpe makes a comeback, having seemingly served his punishment for
his no-show on last winter's tour to Southern Africa. Vikram Solanki keeps
his place in the squad, after an excellent start to the summer, whilst
rookie 'keeper Chris Read misses out in favour of Alec Stewart.
The Squad: Hussain (capt), Caddick, Croft, Ealham, Flintoff, Franks, Gough,
Hick, Knight, Mullally, Solanki, Stewart, Thorpe, White.
