England's selection for the first Test came under some scrutiny as well when they picked Adil Rashid in the squad even though he has given up red-ball cricket for Yorkshire. No. 3 batsman Theunis de Bruyn scored 101 but he and five of his team-mates were snared by Rangana Herath in the second innings to complete a 2-0 win for Sri Lanka. Elsewhere, SL batsman Danushka Gunathilaka was suspended for six matches, continuing the team's run with players breaching the code of conduct.
